- I'm gonna strangle you kid!
- I'd rather go to hell than let Jim be sold
- A farmer by the name of Silas Ph- the man that bought him is named Abram Foster and he lives forty mile back
- The Dauphin is very angry at Huck because he believes that Huck hid the fortune. The Duke calms him down, but soon the Duke and Dauphin begin accusing each other of hiding the gold from the other and forget about accusing Huck. Soon however, they fall asleep and forget the matter. (Chapter 30)
- Huck learns that the Dauphin sold Jim as a runaway slave to make a profit. Huck doesn't know what to do and decides to write a letter telling Miss Watson where she can find Jim. He then decides that he would do the "wrong" thing and help Jim escape again. He figures he would rather go to hell than give up Jim. (Chapter 31)
- When Huck goes into town, he finds the Duke hanging up signs for their show. Huck asks the Duke where Jim is and the Duke almost tells the truth. Then, he changes his mind and decides to tell Huck that a farmer 40 miles away is holding Jim and that Huck should start walking there. (Chapter 31)
