"A short hoarse cry came from his lips as he realized he had reached too far".
" 'we will hunt--you and I.' "

In this scene Rainsford's pipe just fell over the railing, he is looking for it and falls. This scene causes Rainsford to go to the castle, which sets the setting for the rest of the story ,and it introduces the characters. I chose this scene because this is when everything was introduced and it makes you start question Rainsford's character and how he thinks. This scene comes back later when Zaroff explains how he got Rainsford to the island.
In this scene the game begins. This scene is important because it effects the rest of the story. I chose this scene because this is where the whole story is leading up to. This scene will determine how the story ends.
