Hello. I am an Acadia farmer. We have lived here peacefully for many generations. Our French ancestors came here long ago and established farms and illegal fur trade posts. Our lives are mostly about farming but we all live a good life.
Hello. We are Britain's representatives, we are here under the rule of his Majesty, the King. Although you have been under our rule for many years, we believe we are on the brink of war with France. We are notifying you of this because you will be forced to sign a treaty of neutrality. This means you will not be permitded to fight in any war.
Most Acadians agreed to this, but as a war drew closer, the British became more anxious. They went back to the Acadians with an even more atrocious treaty, This one stating...
By order of the king, all male Acadians must fight for the British army in the event of a war on North American land. If you choose not to accept, you will be removed from these lands to New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
Is this a JOKE!!
What an outrage
unbelievable
That's what happened, somewhat 10,000 Acadians refused to fight for the British against there ancestors homeland that was also a part of some of them. They were deported from their land to different parts of the world. they could take very few of their belongings, their houses and the rest of their belongings were burned and pillaged. The expulsion started on August 10, 1755.
This also affected First Nations peoples such as the Mi'kmaq people who were good friends with the Acaidians, they have had many interracial marriages in the past couple of years and had traded lots.
