- So, after Sulla left office 3 guys ruled the Roman republic, Crassus, Pompey, and Julius Caesar.
- Julius Caesar was a rich man and was known for his military accomplishments.
- Caesar led an area of the military to Gaul. While there Caesar fought the Celts and invaded Britain. He won the admiration of the poorer classes.
- By 50 b.c. the first triumvirate no longer existed, Crassus died in battle, and Pompey emerged as Caesars rival.
- In 44 b.c. Caesar took over the Roman government. He ended the practice of dictators and made himself dictator for life.
