In the great plains there is scorching heat but also very powering winds! In the winter it is also extremely cold! There are few trees and lots of valleys and hills in the Great Plains.
The Native Americans of the Great Plains have an illustrated calendar called the winter count. Some of them are nomadic, meaning they constantly move place to place, so they live in homes called teepees. Others live in a permanent settlement in homes called lodges.
Bison are the main food source of the Native Americans in the Great Plains. They also ate beans, corn, and other vegetables that they could easliy find.
