- That's so strange that she never finished it... and the sewing pattern seems so odd...
- They're wondering if she was gonna quilt it or not it!! HA!
- Did she have ever a bird?
- The women find a quilt in Minnie's back room. They notice the odd sewing patterns and how it remains unfinished.
- The men enter again and make fun of the women for focusing on the quilt. In reality, the quilt is a large clue into seeing how Minnie Wright felt before the crime occurred.
- I know what stillness is...
- Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters come across a broken birdcage. They're confused as they never knew Minnie had a bird. Mrs. Hale recounts how Minnie used to love to sing, similar to a bird.
- Knot it.
- Well ladies? Have you decided whether to quilt or knot it?
- In a box and wrapped in silk they discover a tiny yellow canary. The women also realize its neck is broken, similar to how John Wright was killed.
- Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters come to the realization that Minnie Wright killed her husband because he killed her bird. They sympathize with her and understand the they have all experienced the terrible effects sexism has had on them.
- The men come back into the room and the women hide the bird. They decide they are not going to tell them about what they found, saving Minnie Wright.
