  • One rising action in the book is that Starr's friend, Khalil is shot by a racist cop after being polled over and asked to stay out of the car for no reason. This causes much speculation about if the cop did it intentionally or did he do it out of self-defense. This is the main backbone of the story and a big reference for the story.
  • Climax #1,2 and 3
  • Another rising action in the story is how the cop got off free with no consequence and Starr feels that she need to change that. She feels that she need to show that the cop shot an innocent teen. She decided to start a group to show justice for Khalil. and riots breakout.
  • Falling Action #1,2 and 3
  • The major conflict in the story and with Starr is that she witnessed her friend's death. This in many ways shapes Starr into a new person who is confident and stands down to no one. This leads to her turning to friends and family to see if they will follow her to get justice for the death of Khalil.
  • Conclusion
  • The climax in the story is when Starr feels the need to cause a movement for the death and injustice of her friend Khalil. Another Climax is when She decides to gather people through speeches and gatherings. One more climax is when people begin to riot after hearing the truth.
  • In the end, they find the gang who burned down Starr's Dad's Store and they pass down the store to Maverick. This leads to Starr and her family moving to a new neighborhood because they feel its to dangerous to stay in the place they're living. Another falling action is when Star has to move from her hometown, the place she grew up at. Also another falling action arrives when the judge does not prosecute 115.
  • The conclusion of the book, The Hate U Give  is that Starr develops throughout the situation of speaking out for Khalil's death. She went from not saying anything at all to letting the world know what really happened in Khalil's life.
