- Soldiers often drank coffee and ate hard crackers. They went hungry a lot of the time
- Nurses and doctors did not know a lot about pain killers and would often have to amputate limbs.

- On soldiers off time they would help cook food and help with chores

- The wars were very deadly and many soldiers would get hurt or killed

- People were often predjudice against african american soldiers and they didn't fight as much as they would have today.
- A lot of the prison war camps were gruesome. Many people would die of starvation or disease.
- Help me! I am so hungry and I feel so sick. I think I might die in here if I don't get out
