- Newt is getting worse by the second as the virus is consuming him and taking over his brain. He starts to turn on Thomas, despite the two of them being best friends.
- Minho and Gally are on their way to get the cure for the Flare from Brenda. They are trying to get to Newt as quickly as possible.
- Newt begins to fight with Thomas. Thomas doesn't want to hurt Newt, but is unsure of what to do and needs to distract Newt long enough for the serum to arrive. Newt is yelling at Thomas, asking him to kill him.
- During all the fighting, Newt pulls out a knife. It is with this knife that he ends up accidentally stabbing himself.
- Minho, Gally, and Brenda arrive, but they are too late.
