  • Act 1, Scene 1
  • Why are all of these people in the streets and not working?!
  • I am a show maker sir, but today is a holiday to see Caesar and rejoice his presence.
  • Act 1, Scene 1
  • You go that way. If you see anything in honor of Caesar, take it down immediately.
  • Act 1, Scene 2
  • Yes my lord?
  • Calpurnia, my dear!
  • The commoners are celebrating that Caesar is coming to town. Flavius and Murellus get angry because the commoners are flip flopping between Caesar and Pompey.
  • Act 1, Scene 2
  • BEWARE the ides of March!
  • Flavius and Murellus make the commoners leave and discuss to each other about taking any statue of Caesar down in the town.
  • Act 1, Scene 2
  • You, Brutus, are better than Caesar and have more potential to be our leader!
  • This is when the play introduces characters such as Caesars wife, Calpurnia, and they start talking about the upcoming race.
  • Act 1, Scene 3
  • The citizens of Rome will see your success and want you to be the new leader Brutus. You can be the one everyone looks up to and trusts.
  • A soothsayer comes by and tells Caesar to beware the ides of March on the 15th. Caesar thinks he is immortal, so he ignores the soothsayer
  • This is when Cassius tries to talk to Brutus about him becoming the leader instead of Caesar, but Brutus hasn't made his decision yet.
  • In this scene, Cassius gets Brutus to believe that the people in Rome want him as their leader rather than Caesar. Cassius is trying to get Brutus to think he can take down Caesar.
