The mints used in Colgate products are natural and minimally processed
Our mints are US grown in the Pacific Northwest & Midwest.
Mint fields are used for a maximum of 4 years before crops are rotated
When the crop is ready, the mint is cut
The harvested mint is gathered and transported for distillation
Mint is steam distilled and the oil is separated. (steam is passed through the plant material containing the desired oils)
Once distilled it's filled into drums and sent to a flavor broker.
Colgate purchases the flavor oil and it's shipped to Burlington, NJ where it's compounded with other flavor ingredients
The finished product is sent to one of our Oral Care manufacturing sites and put into one of our many toothpaste formulas
