  • Rising Action
  • It is a brisk winter day, April 14 1912. Victoria and her daughters, Lorelai, and Hannah, are on their fourth day of of the first round trip voyage of the Titanic. They are traveling all the way from Britain to America looking for new jobs and new beginnings, since staying in Britain after their father died a few years ago didn't seem right. Night is creeping up on them and it's almost time for Lorelai and Hannah to get some rest.
  • Climax
  • Mom! I can't open the door it's jammed!
  • Once the girls are settled for the night, Victoria leaves them both, to enjoy a late night meal and hear some of the bands playing on deck. Before Victoria leaves, she tells Lorelai, "Make sure to lock the bedroom door since you girls are going to be alone for some of the night. I love you both, and I will knock when I'm coming in to go to bed!"
  • Falling Action
  • Lorelai locks their bedroom door and Hannah slowly drifts off into slumber. Lorelai comes and crawls into the comfy bed. While their mother is gone, and the girls are sleeping, a tragic event occurs. At exactly 11:40 pm, the Titanic hits the side of an iceberg. Extra tough compartments were built on the bottom of the ship to help if something like this should happen, but not on the sides.
  • Resolution
  • Alarms start to sound and crew officials start announcing the news. The girls wake up from all the commotion as their mother comes running from across the deck to get them. In the midst of all the screaming and chaos, water starts pouring in from under the door. The girls then realize what is happening and Lorelai races to the door to unlock it. She jiggles it a few times but is unsuccessful in getting it open. It's jammed!
  • I know honey! We will figure something out!
  • Hannah is starting to panic furiously as more water is coming in the bedroom. She holds onto her doll tight and prays that her older sister and mother will figure something out. Then Lorelai remembers the pin holding back her hair. She has an idea! "Mom, stop trying to open the door, I have an idea!", she says. She takes the pin from her hair and picks the lock open. Finally she is successful! The three of them reunite and race through the halls and crowds as more water floods in.
  • The family of three dashes through the ship and gets down to the lifeboats just in time. They hop on lifeboat number 14 with another family. Luckily, they get on the second-to-last lifeboat just in time to be saved. They sadly watch the Titanic and their opportunity to go to America fade away.
