- I knew as soon as I had heard the news from my parents that it would be hard to assimilate into my new life. How would people perceive me or would they even acknowledge my existence?
- ...I started to realize that making friends was less about trying to get along with others or changing your opinions to match the people around you.
- Good morning! This is flight 1156 from LHR to JFK.
- Rather, it's about accepting who you are as a person and putting yourself out there to make new friendships, instead of always viewing yourself as the outsider.
- And at first, I was right. I felt exactly like an outsider in a foreign land. I didn't have any of the same interests as anyone in my grade, so I thought they had no reason to talk with me.
