Storyboard Text

  • Wow Rachel, it is February and there is finally snow !!
  • Your right Sally !! We haven't had any snow yet this winter. The snow will probably melt again. though .
  • I wonder why. When I was young there was always snow on the ground for most of the winter. Why is there barely snow now?
  • Climate change?!
  • There is barely no snow because of climate change.
  • Yes Sally climate change. Changes in precipitation patterns is an indicator that climate change is happening right now.
  • In the Northern Hemisphere where we are, the precipitation we receive is increasing . Precipitation patterns here and around the globe are very irregular and vary each year. That is why some years we have more snow and some years there is barely snow.
  • Your right about the snow is melting again.
  • Sorry, continue please !
  • Wait why did it start to rain all of a sudden and where did you get the umbrella from??
  • Yes ! So because of climate change we get heavier precipitation patterns like snowstorms and heavy rainfall. There is not really a consistency that we use to have here in the past.
  • That doesn't matter right now. What matters is climate change so pay attention
  • It is very warm here ! I almost need to put on shorts and a tee shirt !
  • What causes that to happen ?
  • Well another part of climate changing in an increase of temperature. There seems to be more rain than snow because since the temperatures are rising it affects how water vapor condenses in the atmosphere, and that affects why there is more rain. Also the rise in temperature.
  • I agree ! If the temperature keeps rising maybe palm trees can grow and be able to thrive in our region. That sounds good and all but palm trees are not suppose to grow in our region since it is suppose to be too cold for them.
  • We can't let this happen. You are smart so tell me please, what can we do about it? How can we change our ways to stop climate change from becoming more. It is stealing our snow from the winter !
  • NOOOO NOT POLAR BEARS !! All of that sounds awful.
  • It is not just in our region that the temperature is rising, but it is a global problem. Glaciers and ice sheets are also melting causing sea levels to rise. This could extinct species like polar bears, and low-lying countries could eventually be underwater.
  • I know, climate change could change our world as we know it. That is why we need to change our ways before it becomes irreversible.
