- India's Caste System
- I am in the Brahmin caste. This is the most authoritative caste. The people in the Brahmin caste have jobs and duties related to academics and being Priests.
- Brahmins are heavily associated with spiritual practices and duties. They also teach and hold sacred knowledge.
- I am in the Kshatriya caste. This is the caste found below Brahmins. The people in the Kshatriya caste have jobs and duties related to being warriors or administrators.
- Most people of the Kshatriya caste are found in the northern part of India. Many modern Kshatriyas are landowners.
- I am in the Vaishya caste. This is the caste found below Kshatriyas. The people of the Vaishya caste have jobs or duties associated with being traders, farmers, and merchants.
- Vaishyas are known to be commoners. They are thought of to be lower class, but are still important in Indian society.
- I am in the Shudra caste. This is the caste found below Vaishyas. The people in the Shudra caste have jobs or duties associated with manual labor.
- Shudras are the lowest rank in the caste system pyramid. Shudras have little to no rights and work for life.
- I am apart of the Dalits. Dalits are not considered to be attached to the rest of the caste system pyramid. Our jobs consist of street cleaning and other tasks that are too bad for the other castes.
- Dalits are called the untouchables of the caste system. They are so low class that it is rarely possible for a family line of Dalits to ever move up in the caste system.
