Storyboard Text

  • 9:00pm- a doctor working night shift arrives at the hospital at this time to takeover from day staff. Day staff will hand over pager, give updates on patients and inform night staff of any other information they may need.
  • 9:30pm- the doctor spends time in the ward checking on patients and adjusting treatment and medication or dosages accordingly. This also involves writing prescriptions and altering treatment plans to improve the patients health.
  • 10:00pm- the doctor may spend the next hour running tests on his patients, checking a patients statistics, such as heart rate patterns and blood oxygen levels and drawing blood
  • 11:00pm- a doctor will try to spend some time writing discharge letter summarising a patients stay at the hospital and treatment they were given. This can often be interrupted if a doctor is needed by a patient.
  • 2:00am- if the hospital is relatively quiet, a doctor may have some time to take a short nap in the doctors room. This more often than not doesn't last long as it can be interrupted if they are needed by a patient or there is a medical emergency.
  • 8:00am- a doctor will generally spend the last hour of their 12 hour shift finalising and reviewing their patients and ensuring everything is prepared for the doctor who is taking over their shift.
