- Ariel brings her new found treasure back to her trove. She is excited to add another item to her collection, even though she is the only one who is fascinated with the surface.

- She begins pouring over her items and adoring them. She makes up names for the things and even forms wild assumptions for what they could be used for.
- Ariel gazes at the portrait of a woman near a candle and questions what fire is.
- Ariel picks up a music box with dancers on the top and wishes she too could dance and watch people dance together one day.
- The last shot of this scene is from Ariel's point of view looking up out of the trove's hole at the sky. She feels trapped and longs to know what the surface holds.
