- I am quite bored. Perhaps we should go to the city. What say you, Gatsby?

- At a hotel in New York City
- Your money is fake.
- Daisy never loved you.
- A nurse brings Daisy her baby. She is obviously not interested in it, and the entire Situation seems to put Gatsby in shock/awe.
- On the road back to Egg
- Tom! is that you??????
- Tensions build up between Gatsby and Daisy. They increasingly make it more and more obvious that they cannot hide their feelings from on another in public. Daisy claims to be bored and wants to go out to the city
- On the road to Egg
- Gatsby and Tom break out into an argument, constantly going back and forth on each other. Tom finally gets Gatsby to sort of break, and makes Daisy go back with Gatsby. He does this to show the confidence that he had won the fight.
- At the Buchanan Household
- While not exactly described in this chapter, it is rumored and eventually concluded that Gatsby and Daisy were the ones who killed Myrtle.
- Tom tries to hide his emotion, while George Wilson gloats over the loss of his wife he was planning to take West.
- Nick finds Gatsby hiding in the bushes of Tom's house. Nick infers that Daisy was actually the one driving, and Gatsby tells him that it is true. He also tells him that he is waiting outside to make sure that Tom does not do anything to Daisy.
- Daisy killed Myrtle, but I will of course take the blame for it
