Our Narrator, Penny, and Nigel arrive home after Nigel's school play and they are all in a super great mood and they decided that they are going to let Nigel cook.

Our narrator watches as Nigel prepares the dinner for the family, all is good; or so we think...
"He was making our undisputed family favorite, crepes suzette."(Ruffin 194)
Penny found our narrators journal and has told Nigel to go pack a bag; she does not seem happy.
"Penny fumed and went into Nigel's room... she led him out the house."(Ruffin 196)
Penny is unhappy with the way the narrator has been acting and is tired of it, she tells him that she is leaving and then storms out the door.
"Don't make me repeat myself. I'll get the house and full custody."(Ruffin 199)
Our narrator runs outside after hearing a loud noise, to see that Penny has been hit by a police car and she doesn't look good.
"Penny was suddenly there, on the cement... blood collected on the dirt below her neck." (Ruffin 200)
The police officer that hit Penny with his car is now trying to accuse the narrator of have something to do with this.
"Stop right there!" "Step away from that woman"(Ruffin 200)
