- I know you fought in the Vietnam War but what exactly happened in the Vietnam War?

- The war started in 1959 and ended in 1975. The Vietnam War was the longest war in all of the U.S.'s history, costing them a whole $200 billion dollars!There were 58,000 American deaths.
- Ho Chi Minh was the communist president of North Vietnam at this time. He used Guerilla tactics throughout the war. North Vietnam was helped by the USSR, China, and other communist allies.
- Ho Chi Minh was the democratic leader of South Vietnam at this time. He was hated by many people. South Vietnam was helped by the U.S. and other anti-communist allies.
- The Gulf of Tonkin resolution was a congressional resolution thatauthorized President Johnson to take military action in Vietnam. This was passed in 1964.
- President Lyndon B Johnson is granted permission to take military action in Vietnam!
- There was also Agent Orange and Napalm which were American bombing campaigns that attempted to chase the enemy out of the jungle by dropping these two defoliants to kill and burn the plantlife.
