- 24 October 1889 Sir Henry Parkes urges the colonies to federate at the Tenterfield School of Arts orientation .
- Before Federation...
- There are a million reasons why we should federate! Firstly...
- The constitution draft of Australia is completed after a series of constitutional conventions in the 1890 and is ready to be passed through the British parliament.
- Finished! Well that was easy?!
- 1 January 1901 the constitution of Australia is passed through the British parliament and Australia is a nation.
- It's all good!
- The constitution of Australia had a federal system that took place when Australia became a nation which was 1 January 1901. The colonies also got renamed to states.
- Afterwards...
- I now announce Sir Edmund Barton as the first Prime Minister of Australia!

- The first Commonwealth Parliament opened on 9 May 1901 in the Exhibition Building in Melbourne, followed by the first sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives in the Legislative Council chamber of the Victorian Parliament House later the same day.
- 1901 1 December, Commonwealth troops embark to fight Boers in South Africa. This is the first time they went to war as Australians.
