  • The Four Period of Expansion
  • Did you know that the first period began when the Romans drove the last Estrucans king out of power? So becuase of that Rome became a republic.
  • First Period of Expansion 509 B.C.E
  • Later on there were disagreements that led to series of wars that lasted the next 245 years. Eventually they conquered their Latin neighbors in central Italy and the Estrucans. By 264 B.C.E Rome had controlled all of Italy.
  • From 264 to 146 B.C.E Rome and Carthage fought three major wars. After the wars Rome gained control of North Africa, much of Spain, and the island of Sicily.
  • The Second Period of Expansion 264 to 146 B.C.E
  • Then Rome became generals were becoming dictators, once Julius also ruled as a dictator before he was murdered in 44 B.C.E. After all that the civil war still followed
  • The Third Period of Expansion from 145 to 44 B.C.E
  • Could you believe that Rome came to rule the entire Mediterranean world? Rome has taken control of many places. For example there is Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt. Another person that has conquered much of Gaul was Julius Caesar.
  • The fourth period of expansion all began with the start of the empire ,Augustus was the first emperor.
  • The Fourth Period of Expansion from 14 C.E
  • Augustus also made a good deal to to new territory by pushing the borders of the empire the way to natural boundaries, like rivers so it'll be easier to defend. So that is the end of the fourth period of expansion.
