Later on there were disagreements that led to series of wars that lasted the next 245 years. Eventually they conquered their Latin neighbors in central Italy and the Estrucans. By 264 B.C.E Rome had controlled all of Italy.
From 264 to 146 B.C.E Rome and Carthage fought three major wars. After the wars Rome gained control of North Africa, much of Spain, and the island of Sicily.

Then Rome became generals were becoming dictators, once Julius also ruled as a dictator before he was murdered in 44 B.C.E. After all that the civil war still followed

Augustus also made a good deal to to new territory by pushing the borders of the empire the way to natural boundaries, like rivers so it'll be easier to defend. So that is the end of the fourth period of expansion.
