Northern Opinion of Missouri Statehood
We don't want Missouri!!
I guess the compromise didn't work.
Southern Opinion of Missouri Statehood
Northerners didn't want Missouri to become a slave state because the senators would of voted to have it expanded in the Western territory. So many people wanted slavery to end but making decision s to outlaw slavery completely would have consequences.
The goal of the Missouri Compromise was to keep slavery from expanding in the West but the line itself became the big problem. This problem was so stressful that no one wanted to address the issue for 15 years. After Missouri joined, no other states joined the union.
There was momentum in the abolition movement which cause the South to worry. The south already had plenty of things to worry about and old issues still had not been resolved. Adding even more southern states just added a lot of stress.
