Storyboard Text

  • Grandma Olivia and her family were what most would call poor. They were Irish immigrants who had came to America in hopes of a better life.
  • Everyday her father would roam the city in search of a paying job.
  • Find Jobs here
  • The line to apply for a job was endless. Grandma Olivia's father, John, could not help but mutter to himself.
  • I'm glad I got here early enough to miss the crowd.
  • Good day sir. Who might you be, eh?
  • My name is John O'Conner, sir. I am a humble Irish immigrant in need of a paying job.
  • Sound asleep, dear.
  • Oh my! Cén t-ádh (what luck)!
  • How are the kids?
  • John O'Conner comes home excited to tell his family what he had scored.
  • Cassidy, honey, Mr. Smith offered me a job at the meat factory 5 blocks away!
  • As John and the kids get a good nights rest, Cassidy stays up late thinking about the opportunity.
  • I hope John's new job works out. If they pay him well, we just might make it in this country. No more famine!
