Storyboard Text

  • I've been meditating upon Numbers 20:11. I have it memorized!
  • That's good start. But it's not enough.
  • What do you mean? I thought I was done!
  • You must learn to utilize the Scriptures as a means of virtue-acquisition. You must move from the historia to the theoria of the text.
  • That's easy. It's about Moses striking the rock by the waters of Meribah when the people were wandering in the desert.
  • Let me ask you this. What is the historia of the text?
  • 1 Corinthians 10:4 tells me that the rock was Christ.
  • But what is the identity of the rock spoken of in this historia? What do the Scriptures say?
  • That's exactly right. The Apostle says that the rock was Christ. And if one should employ the rod of faith he becomes drink to those who are thirsty and flows into those who receive him.
  • Yes, Father.
  • And so, you see, we must approach the text through faith in Christ or we will find that it does not quench our thirst. Now go back into the desert and meditate upon that one for a few months. Then you will find that, as Revelation 3:20 says, the Father will come to you, and make his home with you.
