People have different characteristics because of Genes. Genes are specific parts of your DNA that code for specific traits.
The body reads the gene from molecules called bases. The 4 bases are called Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine, and Guanine and the bases always pair with the other of its pair. the pairs are A to T and C to G.
The process of reading genes is called transcription and it happens in the nucleus of the cell.
How does your body read your genes?
Good Question. It all happens in the nucleus. mRNA is created by splitting the DNA in half with a RNA polymerase. Next the bases bond to the RNA. There is a new base though. Instead of Thymine there is Uracil.
Genes are used to create proteins or the building blocks of your body. It does this by creating mRNA.
How is mRNA created?
Uracil replaces Thymine because it is much cheaper to make. Thymine is used in DNA because it is easier for cytosine to find.
Oh that makes sense.
Why is there a different Base?
Proteins are created because the mRNA leaves the nucleus and goes to a ribosome. Next another type of RNA uses the mRNA to make the protein.
