  • I think this poem will be about someone who wants to be apart of something that they feel left out of.

  • Go to the kitchen!

  • No! I don't have to listen to you!
  • This poem is about a person who is not allowed to eat with everybody because they are different. That person decides that they will not let anyone control them and they will never eat in the kitchen again.
  • S-Shift
  • Every human deserves to be free!
  • Symbolism- "I am the darker brother," suggests that the character is African American. Alliteration-"company comes" Personification-"I, too, sing America"
  • T-Theme
  • The attitude is nice and soft in the beginning. Towards the middle, the attitude turns powerful and persuasive. It stays like this for the rest of the poem.
  • In the beginning, the poem is referring to a person trying to become free. In the end, the poem is referring to the country of America being free.
  • All humans deserve to be treated the same, no matter what race they are.
