Welcome to our very first meeting Sarah. My name is Hano I am your Manager, Peter is my Assistant manager, and you have been given the position of an Associate. I hope you bought your notepads because I am going to address a lot today.
Thank you for accepting me Mrs. Hano, I'm looking forward to following your instructions.
That was a bit rude of Peter
* Under breath*I hope the meeting isn't 2 hours long today.

In the Japanese culture it's necessary to cover every detail, even the tiniest ones. I don't appreciate the direct feedback as it's seen as rude to Japanese people in the workplace.
I never knew that. In Germany direct feedback is healthy in the workplace. I think we can all learn something from each other, like I just did from you Mrs. Hano. Our meetings are normally less than an hour, which is why I never seemed to agree with a 2 hour meeting.
What do you think Sarah?
Uhm well... In America we also have meetings that are less than an hour, but I'm okay with anything. My feedback isn't important as I'm in the lowest position here.

Wow. I never knew how different our backgrounds are. Withholding this information caused a communication barrier. From now on let's involve more conversations on how we were taught to handle certain situations topics back in our countries and try our best to give gentle feedback when necessary. This includes you too Sarah, your voice is important.
You're welcome, Sarah. I apologize if I ever came off as being rude with my feedback Mrs. Hano. I have a feeling we can all make a significant impact in the office with all our knowledge combined.
I never thought of this, thank you for the reassurance, Mrs. Hano, and thank you for involving me in the feedback Peter.
