During the year 1640, Evelyn Smith lived on a small holding with her family. She lived happily with her family which were her husband and her four children, until 1642, when the civil war broke out.
from this point life changed drastically for Evelyn and her family. Her husband , Arthur Smith was forced to join the parliamentarians. He hesitantly refused to join the coats without taking in the consequences which were to come after this. On that day Arthur's body was given to the family.
Evelyn and here four young children were left helpless and devastated without the support of her husband.
Evelyn's farm was vandalised by the parliamentarians and she was forced to share half of her crops with them as there was a great shortage of food supply during that time.

Surprisingly Evelyn and her family survived through the civil war, but at a great expense of losing a loved one and their wealth.
