- 8.) March 1917, Tsar Nicholas II, who had been ruler of Russia since 1894 was being abdicated. After driving his country in shambles, after putting Russia through war. Striking workers, that demanded socialist reforms, were back by the army garrison and Nicholas II was forced to leave the throne.

- 9.) November 7-8, 1917, the October Revolution, also known as the Bolshevik Revolution, and the second Russian Revolution of 1917 occurs. Members of the Bolshevik political party seized power in the capital of Russia, Petrograd. The communist views of the Bolshevik party opposed to the current government of that time swayed more working-class people to support them.

- 10.) April 16, 1917, after a decade of exile, which happened to be his second, Vladimir Lenin, returned. The leader of the revolutionary Bolshevik Party returns to take the reins of the Russian Revolution. And not long after with Lenin, the Bolsheviks organized the October Revolution.

- 11.) Marxism, a socioeconomic philosophy named after Karl Marx. In which a country should go through certain stages to reach such as Feudalism, Capitalism, Communism, and Socialism. Lennin adapted this idea and spread communist propaganda.

- 12.) The Russian Civil War is a multi-party war that spans from Nov 7, 1917 – to Oct 25, 1922. Some of the causes of the civil war were the growing power of the soviets, the treaty of Brest-Litovsk, and the Bolsheviks wanting to wipe out all opposing forces. The Bolsheviks ended up winning and 14,000,000 people were killed from armed attacks, disease or famine.

- 13.) December 30, 1922: After the 1917 Revolution, 4 socialist republics were established on the territory of the former empire: the Russian and Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republics and the Ukrainian and Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republics. The USSR lasted until 1991.
