- in 1871 400 Jewish people lived in Montreal Canada. in 1901 6975 Jewish people lived in Montreal. Most left Europe be cause of anti-Semitism, prejudice or hatred on Jewish people.

- when some Jewish immigrants arrived to Montreal, they joined or created clubs of people from the same town/village. The clubs Jewish immigrants joined/created helped them learn and understand French and English.

- Jewish people worshipped at synagogues on special holy day and on the sabbath.
- Religious Life
- Jewish immigrants came to Montreal with not a lot of money. Some Jewish immigrants worked as peddlers. Peddlers visited area far away from stores to sell goods. some ended up owning businesses and becoming successful
