Storyboard Text

  • This moment that Mrs. Baker and Holling had was in the beginning of the book. This was when Holling had to stay on Wednesdays and read Shakespeare with Mrs. Baker. Throughout this time together, Holling found out that he actually liked reading Shakespeare. This created a bond between them.
  • This moment symbolized when Holling was running in cross country and Mrs. Baker helped him. Mrs. Baker teaches Holling how to run well like Jesse Owens to help him win. Mrs. Baker finally reveals to Holling that she was in the Olympics in 1956 which has him stunned. That was one of the first things they had in common- they both liked to run.
  • This event in the story was when Holling gave advice to Mrs. Baker for when the teachers came in and judged how well the class behaved. Holing gave her advice such as she shouldn't cross her arms, she shouldn't roll her eyes, and she shouldn't make teacher jokes. This changed their relationship because he cared about her enough to help her on a very stressful day. This once again grew their bond even stronger which follows the theme of love and friendship.
