I pray you,tell my lord and father,madam,I will not marry yet;and when i do,I swear,it shall be Romeo,whom you know i hate
Marry my child..the county Paris,at Saints Peter's church, shall make thee a joyful bride
i think it best you married with the County. O,he's a lovely gentleman!
at this moment Lord Capulet enters
what if it be a poison, which the friar subthly hath minist'red to have me dead, lest in this marriage he should be dihonour'd because he married me before to Romeo?
Romeo protests that he has good reason to love Tybalt, and doesn't wish to fight him. He asks that until Tybalt knows the reason for this love,he shall put his sword aside as he says "Gentlemen, for shame, forbear this outrage!"Mercutio angrily draws his sword and says that if Romeo will not fight Tybalt he will fight him for Romeo. They fight while Romeo tries to stop them and Tybalt takes advantage and goes under Romeo's arm and slays Mercutio.
Either thou,or I,or both,must go with him.
This shall determine that.
Thou, wrethed boy, that didst consort him here, shalt with him hence.
Juliet's mother comes to inform her that she shall be married to Paris the next day. Juliet is already wedded to Romeo but her parents are not aware of that. She refuses to marry Paris because she opposes her mother's decision. She clearly tells her that if she is to marry she would marry Romeo. At this instance Lord Capulet enters her room.
is she not proud?Doth she not count her blest, unworthy as she is,that we wrought so worthy a gentlemen to be her bride?
Ay,sir;but she will none, she gives you thanks.I wish the fool were married to her grave!
Friar Laurence gave Juliet distilled liquor so that when she drinks it she would fall asleep for a very long time and would't wake up which would seem like she's dead. Friar's plan is that when her parents or the nurse comes to wake her up she would be "dead". From there they would put her in an ancient tomb and would be put in the vault. She would wake up in the vault and Romeo would be waiting for her there.
Stay,Tybalt,stay!Romeo,I come!This do I drink to thee
In act 3 scene 1, Romeo wanted to avenge his dear friend Mercutio so he chased Tybalt and fought him. In the play Romeo is seen as a lover and not a fighter but now the anger that was inside of him and the desperation to kill Tybalt urged him to pick up the gun and kill Tybalt. Romeo had done it he finally got his revenge. This scene displays an external conflict because the fight took place on a public street in Verona and many citizens had witnessed it.
THEY FIGHT;TYBALT FALLS
Juliet not wanting to marry Paris turns into a conflict. Lord Capulet speaks to her so horribly as the nurse is defending Juliet. Juliet's own mother wished she was married to her grave, meaning that she wishes she was dead. This event ruined her relationship with her dad. He said he would disown her if she didn't marry.Juliet goes to Friar Laurence's to get the distilled liquor.
God in heaven bless her!You are to blame,my lord,to rate her so.
Juliet is not certain on whether or not she should drink the distilled liquor that was given to her by Friar. She questions him by asking herself if it was poison and Friar wanted to killed her so he wouldn't have to be dishounored by this marriage. This is an internal conflict because no one knows whats going on in Juliet's head and no one is aware what is going on.She drinks the liquor secretly at night so nobody would know.
