Storyboard Text

  • Teachers I am looking forward to your first observation cycle and I understand that it is new and scary for you.
  • Yes, it is.
  • Our first step is to identify a focus area for the observation. What area do you think you need support with to improve student learning?
  • For me it’s making sure that students have meaningful discussions.
  • For me it’s managing transitions between lessons.
  • Good. Now create a checklist of 3-5 points on what your expectations are then we can discuss and finalise your checklist. This is what I will use in the observation to share feedback with you.
  • For Transitions - Learners have clear schedules; Clear and consistent signals for transitions; Activities are prepared and ready for learners at transition areas.
  • Excellent. Very clear expectations.
  • For Classroom Discussion - Look at the speaker; Raise your hand to agree or disagree; Build on speaker’s statements
  • Excellent. This will help you and your learners.
  • 3 x 5 = ?
  • Yes. I appreciate that we are focussing on developing one aspect at a time.
  • Well done! Now let us confirm a date and time for the observation and the feedback session. Any thoughts?
  • 3 x 5 = ?
  • I feel better now that I know what the focus will be.
