the stellar evolution is pretty simple it begins in one of the darker regions of an interstller cloud or nebula.
over time, this larger interstellar cloud will end up being down into smaller clouds of gas and dust
Your right bob, the cloud would then eventually get hotter and then pressure increases until the temp and the pressure are high.
Then boom, it would eventually become a massive star in space.
This large star fuse hydrogen atoms to huielm atoms in their core

Thats right bob, This is called a red supergiant, now its heating up even further, buring the last of its hydrogen and causing the stars outer layer to expand outward.
As it expands BOOOOM!!!it becomes a super nova, the explosive death of a star.
