Storyboard Text

  • During their lives, Egyptians did good deeds so that their heart would be light and they could earn an afterlife.
  • The Pharaoh or noble died and was mummified to preserve the body.
  • The name of the person had to be written in the tomb so that the Ba and Ka would be able to return to the body each night if the person passed the test and was granted an afterlife.
  • The soul is sent to the Underworld and the goddess Ma’at weighs the heart against the Feather of Truth.
  • If the heart is pure and weighs less than the feather, the soul can sail away into the afterlife on the god Ra’s boat.
  • If the heart was full of sin and was heavier than the feather, the soul could not pass into the afterlife and would be eaten by Ammit (a creature that was part crocodile, lion and hippopotamus).
