The 14th amendment granted citizenship to all people born or naturalized in the United States -including former slaves- and guaranteed all citizens "equal protection of the laws." This amendment helped to establish civil and legal rights for African-Americans.
The 14th Amendment - Fun Facts and Info
This amendment allowed all male citizens, and African Americans the right to vote and run for office regardless of their race, color, or previous servitude. The amendment stated, " The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged".

How have these amendments affected the past?When these amendments were created, they were created with the equality for blacks in mind. This was the beginning of the start of racial equality to allow everyone to vote, and be in the U.S. without having to face prejudice.How are these amendments affecting the present?These amendments are still in practice and continue to help give equal rights for everyone.How will these amendments affect the future.Hopefully, these amendments will continue to make even more equality for all races.
