- Hey Jason, I totally dare you to steal something out of the store!
- No way dude!
- If you don't, I'll tell everybody about the time that you-
- Fine! I'll do it!
- Man, I really don't want to do this..
- Jacob's friend Max dares him to steal from their local toy store. Knowing that it is wrong to take something that isn't yours, he refuses. He is feeling very pressured though, and really want's to impress Max.
- Um.. Hi, can I buy this teddy bear?
- Of course! That will be $6.25
- Max threatens to tell everybody about one of Jacobs biggest secrets. So, out of fear that his secret will get out, he complies. Deep down, he still knows what the right thing to do is, but doing the right thing isn't his top priority.
- So, did you do it?
- No, I didn't. I don't care what you do with your life but you can't control mine.
- Jacob is doubting himself. He doesn't want to steal anything, but he feels like he doesn't have any other choice. In reality, he could just deal with the consequences of his secret getting out, because little does he know, everybody will forget about it in a day or two.
- I'm sorry mom, I should have told you sooner.
- Jacob finally decides not to do it. He realizes that even though he cares a lot about Max and what he think about him, Jacob does the right thing. He pays for the teddy bear with his money, and plans to give it to his mom as a way to say sorry.
- Jacob stands up for himself. He tells Max that he doesn't care what he thinks anymore, and that doing the right thing is more important than not letting his secret get out. Jacob is still worried, but he knows he did the right thing
- Before Max can tell anybody, Jacob tells his mom about the secret himself. He feels that his mom will feel better if Jacob tells her himself. His mom is just happy that Jacob stopped hiding the truth from her.
