The protagonist in this story is Billy Weaver, and the antagonist is the landlady. This story takes place when Billy shows up Bath, England primarily at a Bed and Breakfast. It is cold and windy around 9 pm.
Billy shows up to the Bed and Breakfast. He is shown to his room, and notices he is the only one staying there. He is given tea and asked to sign the guest list, and noticed that two familiar people had stayed there but, it was two and three years ago.
Billy is looking around the room, and realized the animals were not alive. The landlady said, she stuffs all her pets.
The landlady keeps asking if he wants more tea. He denies it and says his tea tastes like bitter almonds. She double checks that he signed the guest list.
We can assume that she killed Billy, and stuffed him like her other "pets."
The theme is, do not trust strangers. The conflict is person vs. person, with Billy vs. the landlady.
This scene shows the landlady staring at one of her other "stuffed pets"
