Storyboard Description

Setting: Abbey Street Characters: Catherine, Fr. Nugent and the young girls Solution: Catherine didn’t want to use her money to travel around the world but instead she wanted to build a house of mercy. Personal Reaction: She was astonishing because she didn’t want to use her money like all the other rich women for travelling the world. She also continued helping the poor. Plot: Beginning: Fr. Nugent opened a school and Catherine was interested Middle: She had a great fortune however, instead of travelling the world she helped and taught the young girls End: Catherine had a dream house, House of Mercy, that she was going to build with her fortune. Conclusion: Helping all the young girls made Catherine want to build a House of Mercy for girls using her fortune.   • Her friend, Fr. Nugent, had moved to Liffey Street and Mary Street and he was doing wonderful things for the poor. Fr. Nugent opened a for poor girls and Catherine took a great interest.
  • Catherine travelled to the school everyday and spent long hours there teaching the young girls how to sew and make all fancy garments, suitable for the wealthy ladies that lived in the area.
  • Catherine McAuley and Fr. Nugent opened a little shop next door where all the girls work was shown and sold for a good price. Catherine realized that it was important to teach them to be independent and use the gifts that good gave them.
