Point of View
The setting of " The Lottery " is in a small town consisting of around a hundred people or so. The year is unknown but it appears to be nothing near present time. "The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny,"
The point of view is in third person. "Tessie said."
One theme of " The Lottery " the senselessness of following old traditions. The people of the town are not seeing the wrong in their doings because they are just following the tradition from the people before them. When the tradition is a human sacrifice for a good harvest year.
