  • Deep within the center of the human brain rests the secret layer, A.K.A "The Third Eye", of our minds savior, Captain Pineal!
  • Hello Captain, there is a mild disturbance. It is passed 9 o'clock but the brain is still receiving light. Melatonin levels critically low.
  • Okay sir. Preparing meditation procedure. Running diagnostic. Phone light.
  • Prepare calming measures, we must put the mind at ease.
  • Captain, we have another problem. The human has a job interview tomorrow.
  • This must be corrected quickly, without enough melatonin being secreted into the blood the human will suffer from a poor nights rest.
  • This is disastrous! Without a proper sleep the humans moods will be all out of sorts! I must act now!
  • The Pineal Gland controls the bodies sleep/wake cycle. This cycle effects our everyday mood, hormone levels, stress levels and physical performance.
  • Somewhere far far away, located outside of the body.....
  • My plan is already working! With Captain Pineal distracted by the attacks of light, I will be able to crystallize the Third Eye with fluoride!
  • Captain Pineal's arch-enemy, Fluoridion, is devising a plan to disable the Captain's ability to produce melatonin.
  • Our hero is travelling through the blood stream of our human. He is much more vulnerable outside of his layer and disguises his true identity by using his alias, Steven Rodgers.
  • I must be very careful, I have a bad feeling about this light, something doesn't seem right.
  • The light from the human's phone screen has almost completely shutdown melatonin production!
  • Wait this can't be! The human has given the signal of darkness, yet melatonin levels are still abnormally low. Something here is fishy!
  • Darkness causes melatonin levels to increase. Turning the lights off and staying away from electronic screens are key in helping humans get to sleep.
  • Jarvice needs my help! I knew something was up, this must be the work of Fluoridion! If I don't stop him the low melatonin levels may become permanent!
  • Captain return to base immediately! We are under attack!
  • Back in the Third Eye.....
  • Jarvice where is this scoundrel!
  • This way sir. He is using fluoride to attack or base. It has just began crystallizing.
  • Oh dear! This is worse than I thought. If he is succesful at crystallizing my lair, the human will lose their inner clock!
  • If melatonin levels remain low, the body will be unable to regulate sexual maturity and female reproduction hormones.
  • Mwahaha! Soon The whole Third Eye will be covered! Then I will destroy the entire endocrine system!
  • Not if I can help it!
  • A battle begins between two enemies just outside of the Pineal Gland. Located between the brains two hemispheres (tucked in a groove where the two rounded thalamic bodies join). The gland is not isolated from the body by the blood-brain barrier system, which means all of the bodies civilians have front row seats to the fight that could lead to their demise!
  • Now to put an end to this once and for all!
  • NO! This is the end!
  • MELATONABEAM!!!
  • s..so..ti..tired...zzzzzzz
  • Back in the Third Eye...
  • Congratulations Captain! You have saved the day yet again!
  • Yes Jarvice it is a good day. Sadly though I will not be able to fight forever. As the human ages I become weaker. The gland's melatonin decreases, and eventually Fluoridion will win.
  • For now though, the gland can do it's job. Melatonin levels have been restored and have reached their target in the brain, the human is asleep and their mood, inner clock and hormone levels are all in good shape!
  • THE END
  • Name: Captain Pineal Alias: Steven Rodgers Hormone produced: Melatonin Function: Controls the bodies sleep/wake cycle or "inner clock". Plays a major role in our stress and hormone levels, physical performance and everyday mood.
  • Weakness: Light (the gland will think it is day time if it is exposed to light and will not produce melatonin). The pineal gland is effected by fluoride more than any other part of the body. fluoride forms phosphate crystals on the gland which slow melatonin production.
  • Target: The brain. Location: Center of the brain, right between our eyes. Stimulus: Darkness Note: Melatonin production slows down with age. Under active levels of melatonin in children can lead to early puberty. Low levels of melatonin is also linked to seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
