Charbonnet made an appearance at Pasteur's house and continued to believe that Pasteur's findings were simply wrong. So, Charbonnet decided to inject himself with the rabies. But, he didn't get the disease. Marie suggests that the sample became old with age.
A woman had came to Pasteur and begged Pasteur to save her son. Pasteur was determined to save him, so he tried the untested treatment and hoped for the best.
Annette went in to labor and Pasteur had made an agreement with Charbonnet just to prevent him from causing child bed fever. So, Pasteur made sure he washed his hands and sterilized his tools to keep them from being contaminated. Pasteur ends up having a stroke during the delivery.
At the end of the movie, Pasteur had cured the boy and Annette had her baby successfully. Pasteur was doing okay after his stroke and was able to treat the patients in the hospitals. People now believed his theories and discoveries were indeed accurate.
