- Poor kid.
- No Slacking off, do your work!
- I..............I Can't work, I burnt my hands. When I worked on the machine.
- The Pollution in the air, is making me sick and i'm hungry!
- Man, i'm tired just worked on 4 machines today. Got 2 more
- How much longer do we have to work, I'm tired!
- Finally, almost time to get out of here, last machine for the day.
- In the factories, workers old to young had to do one job, and that job was to work on machines or run errands. The main character( the one next to the old man) had one job and that job was to work on the machines a dangerous job that ends in injury( just like the boy who burnt his hands). Though he gets little money for doing this task it is worth it, because he is able to support his family.
- Workers, had to face harsh conditions in the factory, and these conditions usually made the workers extremely sick. One of the major conditions would be the pollution in the air, which came from machines. The pollution and many hours of work usually made a lot of the workers suffer from fatigue and starvation, because food wasn't always given to workers. The main character here is working for hours on seperate machines.
- The main character here is working on the last machine before the factory closes, he has been working for at least 14 hours., and now he can finally head home and eat dinner and get some rest. All of workers around this time worked long hours, which is not the most fun thing to do. And remember they hardly get paid enough for the work they do, they get about 8-10 dollars a week.

- The worker would then arrive home to a house that isn't as nice or well put together, these houses were usually located in the slums of a town. These homes smelt and mostly had infestations of rodents and bugs. These parts of the town aren't care for and they are meant to be that way. As a worker you are only there to work nothing else, that was the way.
- The worker would then wake up early in the morning to get to the factory, so they can work all over again, if the worker is late they would be harshly punished and fired. So you had to get there on time. As for work, the average worker would would 6 days in a week. For hours as long as 14-16 hours, with gains of 10 cents an hour.
- Workers did a lot and fought back for rights in the factories as a result.
