  • The French Revolution Paris, France
  • We're being taxed way too much, while the nobles don't at all! The prices of food are going up, too!
  • As France was in a serious debt, it taxed the 3rd Estate more, and priced food higher than normal as France was in debt.
  • There are different types of governmnet, and I think we should change ours! 
  • Those who could read were inspired by the ideas of Locke and Voltaire, along with other Enlightenment leaders and decided it was time for a change.
  • That's a great idea! Did you get that from Locke and Voltaire? 
  • No, Louis! They don't call me Madame Deficit for nothing!
  • Marie Antoinette and King Louis XIV spent a lot of money, causing France to go into debt and the people to get even more upset with them. 
  • Marie, do you think we are spending too much?
  • The prison of Bastille was stormed by a mob of angry people from the 3rd Estate. They killed the guards and began to take apart Bastille brick by brick. This became known in France as Bastille Day. 
  • Now that we have killed all the guards, we must take apart this prison!
  • The people of France were given rights such as freedom of speech and the right to a fair trial, when the National Assembly created the Declaration of the Rights of Man.
  • The Declaration of the Rights of Man has given us more rights! Thank you, National Assembly!
  • After the Revolution...
