- Oh, cousin Romeo. You have fallen out of love. Surely there is someone else out there.

- No, you don't understand. There is no one as beautiful as my Rosaline.
- Well if she has left you, there is a party tonight where you can meet other beautiful women.
- Now I am sad because you are sad! Rosaline was so beautiful, you don't understand.
- It's 9 o'clock in Verona. Romeo sits under a tree wondering why Rosaline doesn't love him back, and why Cupid has struck him too deep with his arrow.

- Romeo meets Benvolio, and they talk about why Romeo is sad.

- Benvolio tells Romeo why he shouldn't be upset.
