- Change and Conflict
- By focusing on change and conflict, the first scene is talks about brief relationship between Korea and Japan now which will lead the 8th graders to understand more about two countries' relationship Korea and Japan's trade war started on 22nd August 2019.
- What do you think about Korea and Japan's trade war?
- Japan started this by erasing Korea from their white-list. Japan partially stopped providing Korea with the materials for semi-conductor, which is the cause of this trade war. This is also affected by the history of Korea and Japan
- Korea chose to collaborate with Israel, by promising 3 years negotiation of FTA(Free Trade Agreement). This allowed Israel to improve their trade and Korea to continue producing semi-conductor. However, Japan only lost a country to trade with running a deficit.
- To great extent, this is conflict towards Korea and Japan, and cooperation towards Korea and Israel. This is a unique trade war, where both cooperation and conflict occurs in one country (Korea).
- This is an example of how global trade that initially fostered cooperation has changed to/is now fostering conflict, which means that this problem will not be easily solved.
