- Hey, do you ever struggle with different patient names?
- Yep, Plus, they are time-consuming to research, so I ALWAYS PEND!
- Sometimes, but the PNG lists many scenarios that don't require pending, like nicknames.
- Unless the nickname is listed, I PEND.
- Hmmm, nicknames DO NOT have to be listed to be acceptable.
- Really? How do you determine nicknames if they aren’t listed?
- Well, most nicknames are shortened/modified variations of a proper name. For example, I go by Katy, but my full name is Catherine.
- Ah, OK. I thought the nickname had to be listed in the PNG to be acceptable.
- Yeah, me too! Thanks for the tip, Katy. I’ll consider that before pending next time
