Storyboard Text

  • One day Vietnam will be a complete communist country!!!!
  • Give me that money!
  • Not today Ho Chi. The US gave it to us not you.
  • See! Your money didn't lead you to victory.
  • The goal of Ho Chi Minh and Vietminh was to get independence for Vietnamese People. Ho Chi had wanted a communist country, yet he kept that to himself for the most part. He really wanted to help them, yet, his want for communism was greater. It eventually became all about gaining communism in other locations.
  • NO, this cannot be happening.
  • AT LAST... I DID IT!
  • The United States played a role in Vietnam during the Truman Administration. They gave 500 million dollars a year to the French. It had helped their war effort. The Vietnamese people did not benefit. It was to their disadvantage because the French then used their land to create a government that was communist free.
  • The outcome of the French and Vietnamese War was important. One outcome was that a small Asian state had come together and created strategies and tactics that would lead them to victory. They took down a rich European state that was rather large. They proved that money isn't what wins a war. Working together and establishing leadership is where it's all at.
  • Eisenhower had feared that if Ho Chi Minh got his way in Vietnam it would become a communist country. His biggest fear was the spread of communism. That's why he had given money to the South Vietnamese because he thought that with more money they'd win.
  • The United States gave money to South Vietnam in an attempt to stop communism from spreading.  This occurred during the Eisenhower Administration. In addition, South Vietnam's leaders caused the US problems because they were corrupt and they even sold weapons to Viet Cong.

  • During Kennedy's presidency the US debated whether it was necessary to declare full scale war because they were very involved. In addition to that a Buddhist Monk lit himself on fire while sitting in the lotus position. He sat like that on a busy intersection to protest the treatment by the South Vietnam's Catholic President Diem.
