November 19, 1863, President Lincoln gave a speech, declaring that all men are created equal and that we will endure the war fighting for that. His words are still remembered nationwide
January 1, 1863, Lincoln declared that all slaves were to be free.
May 1863- July 1863, the siege of Vicksburg was a major battle of the civil war, it caused the union to realize this war would be a long and hard one.
On March 4, 1865, the South surrendered to the Union at the Appomattox court house.
On April 9, 1865 the confederate general, Robert Lee, surrendered to the Union and ended The Civil War.
